Except for user-submitted content, third-party materials, and portions that are not eligible for copyright protection, the original Caprine Compass software code, interface design, human-authored icons and graphics, written app content, educational content, arrangement, and other original expressive material are owned by Donald Brent Vaught to the extent protected by applicable law.

An application for U.S. copyright registration has been filed for certain Caprine Compass material. Filing an application is not the same as receiving a registration, and this notice does not represent that a registration has been issued.

Caprine Compass name and branding

Caprine Compass™ and the Caprine Compass logo are used as source-identifying branding for the service operated by Vaught Family Farm, LLC.

A federal trademark application for Caprine Compass has been submitted and is pending. A pending application is not a federal registration. Caprine Compass does not use the federal registration symbol (®) unless and until an applicable registration is actually issued.

No permission to copy, reproduce, distribute, publish, modify, create confusingly similar branding from, or commercially use Caprine Compass original branding is granted except as expressly allowed by law or by written permission from the applicable rights holder.

User content

Users retain ownership of the records, photos, documents, notes, and other content they submit. The limited rights needed for Caprine Compass to host and process that content are described in the Terms of Service.

Users are responsible for having the rights or permission needed to upload third-party photos, documents, registration materials, logos, publications, or other protected content.

Third-party names and trademarks

Third-party names are used only when reasonably necessary to identify a registry, youth program, show organization, service provider, product, device feature, interoperability provider, or source of current official rules. Unless expressly stated otherwise, Caprine Compass is independent and is not sponsored by, endorsed by, affiliated with, certified by, or an official product of any third party mentioned in the app.

Third-party names, logos, emblems, trademarks, copyrighted publications, artwork, standards, and other intellectual property remain the property of their respective owners.

Educational content and official rules

Breed characteristics, showmanship tips, anatomy labels, and quiz questions in Caprine Compass are independently written educational summaries. Facts, measurements, terminology, and rules may be informed by generally available dairy-goat knowledge and current official sources, but Caprine Compass does not reproduce or replace an organization's rulebook, breed standard, registration certificate, show guide, emblem, logo, artwork, or other official publication.

Exact measurements, accepted colors, disqualifications, recordation requirements, class eligibility, uniform rules, and similar organization-specific requirements should be checked in the current official source before an actual registration, entry, or compliance decision.

Open source software

Caprine Compass is built with open source software. The copyright in each third-party component remains with its respective author or copyright holder, and each component remains governed by its own license.

Transitive dependencies may include additional open source components and licenses. Their original license files and notices remain controlling.

Mozilla Public License 2.0

Caprine Compass uses web-push 3.6.7 under the Mozilla Public License, version 2.0 (MPL-2.0). The MPL-licensed component remains governed by the MPL-2.0 and is not relicensed as proprietary Caprine Compass code.

AI-assisted and original visual assets

Caprine Compass includes application icons and visual assets created for the service. Generative AI tools were used in creating some project material. Caprine Compass claims copyright only in human-authored selection, arrangement, modifications, written material, code, and other contributions to the extent those contributions are protected by applicable law.

Vaught Family Farm, LLC has registered a designated agent with the U.S. Copyright Office for DMCA notices relating to Caprine Compass.
