What we collect
Caprine Compass stores the information you choose to enter so the service can manage a family dairy-goat herd and show projects. This can include account and profile information, family membership and roles, goat profiles and pedigrees, health and care records, weights, breeding and kidding records, dairy production records, show records, tasks, goals, financial records, learning results, uploaded photos and documents, notification settings, activity history, and private-beta feedback.
Authentication providers and payment providers may process information needed to sign you in, recover an account, or manage a paid subscription. Caprine Compass does not store complete payment-card numbers.
How information is used
Information is used to provide the features you request, keep family records synchronized, enforce permissions and plan limits, deliver requested notifications, support account recovery and invitations, provide exports and reports, process subscriptions, protect the service, investigate problems, and improve the product.
Family sharing
People you invite to the same family herd can see family-scoped data according to their role. Owners and administrators can manage family access and may choose an Independent Exhibitor role for a more trusted or experienced exhibitor who should have broader herd/project management access without family administration, billing, or family financial access. Some records identify the family member who created or completed an item so the family can maintain an audit trail.
Service providers
Caprine Compass relies on third-party infrastructure providers for hosting, authentication/database/storage, transactional email, and subscription payments. Those providers process information as needed to operate their services and are subject to their own privacy and security terms.
Notifications and device data
If you opt in to browser push notifications, the service stores the push subscription information required to reach that browser. Device/browser information may be stored with the subscription to help manage delivery. Notifications can be disabled from the app or browser.
Data retention and deletion
Family herd information remains available until the family Owner permanently deletes that family or another applicable retention obligation requires otherwise. The family-deletion workflow removes the family's database records and referenced private cloud files; it is blocked while Premium is active so an active subscription is not orphaned. Payment providers may retain transaction, customer, fraud-prevention, accounting, or legal records under their own obligations.
Removing a person from a family does not automatically erase the family's herd history. A signed-in user who does not own a family can use the account-deletion workflow to permanently delete their login after confirming their password. Shared family history is preserved while personal user references are cleared where appropriate. A family Owner must first transfer ownership to another active member or permanently delete each owned family before deleting the Owner login.
Exports and backups
Owners and administrators can export family data using the Data Safety tools. Keep exported backups secure because downloaded files are outside the protection of the Caprine Compass service after download.
Security
The service uses authenticated access, family-scoped authorization, row-level security, private file storage, server-only secrets for privileged services, and other safeguards designed to limit unauthorized access. No online service can guarantee absolute security.
Children and youth exhibitors
Caprine Compass is designed for family and youth livestock-project use. A parent, guardian, or other responsible adult should manage account access for children as appropriate, choose the role that matches the exhibitor's level of responsibility, and decide what personal information is entered into the service.
Changes
This policy may be updated as the product changes. The effective date above will be revised when material changes are published.
Contact and questions
Private-beta users should use the in-app Feedback page for privacy questions, account concerns, or requests that are not handled by the available account and data-management tools.
